On the day we left Dunedin, we stopped at one of the main attractions...
looks pretty steep to me... let's climb it!
view from the top!
Goodbye Dunedin, you were lovely...
Otago Peninsula
Then on the way to Lake Tekapo we stopped here...
crazy looking rocks that our guide tried to convince us were alien eggs... yeah ok :P
See, I'm an alien hatching from my egg!
Waitiki Dam
Finally, we arrived in Lake Tekapo
and we taken to this adorable little church that overlooks the lake
Lake Tekapo
The water was so clear and blue, it was almost unreal, well at least to me.
lots of climbing happened during this trip...
this is Mt. John, which we are about to climb because there is a nice observatory and view of the lake on top.
the southern summit
yay! I climbed it! (but we still had the northern summit to go...)
views from the northern summit...
Lake Tekapo was amazingly pretty. I was sad that it was cloudy/rainy and the observatory tour was cancelled because the town makes sure to have little to no light pollution so that the view is clear. It was crazy getting around at night with very dim or no street lights.
That was some blue water. I don't think I have seen any that blue before. We are going to need to get you new tennis shoes after all the walking you have been doing. Mom
